8 Factors to Consider When Planning Your Switch to Vaping - 180 Smoke

8 Factors to Consider When Planning Your Switch to Vaping

Sep 10, 2018 | 101 Guides, Vaping, Vaping Wiki

Deciding to make the switch to vaping is the major first step in changing your life. But since vaping is a transitional tool that’s very different from traditional NRT methods, it’s difficult to know the best way for you to start your new journey.

Fortunately, we’re here to make your switch as easy as possible. Considering the following factors when you’re planning to make the switch.

1. Take note of how many cigarettes you smoke on an average day

How much are you really smoking? Shame makes us all want to round the number down, but truly look at how many cigarettes you go through on an average day and remember that number. It’ll help you select the correct nicotine strength e-juice when you’re ready.

2. Think about how you smoke

When you smoke, how do you do it? Do you pool the smoke into your mouth first and then inhale? If so, you’ll likely enjoy a mouth to lung e-cigarette. Or maybe you draw the smoke directly into your lungs. In that case, you’ll probably want to go for a direct to lung e-cigarette

3. Make a budget

What does your budget look like? Switching to vaping will come with an initial investment, but fortunately the devices are reusable, so if you take care of your device, you won’t have to invest in another device for a while. Cost doesn’t always correlate with quality, but it will determine what kind of vape you’ll be looking for. Think about how much are you willing to spend on your first e-cigarette

4. Consider what style of kit you’d like

Do you want a kit that’s large and flashy? Or perhaps something small and discreet. If you’re outdoors often, you may want to go with something that’s more durable. Knowing what kind of device would work best for you and your lifestyle is an important factor of making a successful switch

5. Don’t worry about NRT

Nicotine patches, gums, lozenges, and sprays are all great on their own. But you won’t be needing them if you’re switching to vaping. You can get e-liquid with nicotine if you choose which, at the right strength, will help in satisfying your cravings. Plus, many NRT methods (like the patch) warn of nicotine overdose if used in tandem with other nicotine products

6. Consider which flavours might help you transition

Getting an e-liquid flavour you love plays a huge role in helping you stick to vaping once and for all. Many beginners want to maintain familiarity, which in turn can help with the transition. So because of this, they often start with a tobacco flavour. However, there are plenty of other flavours to choose from—fruits, desserts, and mints. Any of these flavours can contain nicotine, so you don’t have to limit yourself. Think about what kinds of flavours you like in foods and drinks—they tend to be a good guide when selecting e-liquids. And if you’re unsure which flavour to go for, why not try out a few different ones? With a variety of flavours, chances are you’ll find at least one that works for you

7. Prepare your willpower

Vaping provides both the hand-to-mouth habit and nicotine consumption. However, it still may take some personal willpower to fully make the switch. When you stop using tobacco, you’re also quitting thousands of other chemicals that your body has become accustomed to, so you might still experience some residual cravings. However, e-liquid with nicotine can make that time a lot easier on the body.

8. Learn to go easy on yourself

Changing your life and improving yourself is hard work. Despite what you might think, your switch to vaping doesn’t have to be perfect, and everyone’s switch will different. For some people, switching to vaping is simple. But for others, it might take some time to get accustomed to the change. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, and remember that the goal is to reduce harm. Any effort you can put towards that is worth it.

We wish you the best of luck with your switch!
